Viziv Technologies


After more than four decades of research, Viziv Technologies, LLC is positioned to commercialize a phenomenon known as the Zenneck surface wave. The Zenneck surface wave is an electromagnetic wave bound to the earth’s surface using the earth-air interface as its waveguide.

We have assembled a world-class team of scientists, engineers, business people, and research partners to take this transformative science from laboratory to industry.

Although we recognize this technology has the potential to impact numerous sectors of the economy, our current research and commercialization focus is long-range power transfer and terrestrially based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) solutions.

The world’s current wired power grids are vulnerable to weather, age, natural disasters, and physical attack. The transition to a global wireless system utilizing the Zenneck surface wave would effectively “cut the cord” between power generation facilities and the local distribution grids, enhancing reliability and resiliency of the world’s electrical distribution systems. For almost a billion people globally without power, this technology would mean hot meals, clean drinking water, advanced medical treatment, and greater access to educational resources; essential services which many of them have never experienced.

Likewise, many of the world’s critical networks rely on a vulnerable satellite-based GPS system. In 2013, the Presidential Policy Directive on Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience designated 16 critical infrastructure (CI) sectors “…whose assets, systems, and networks, whether physical or virtual, are considered so vital to the United States that their incapacitation or destruction would have a debilitating effect on security, national economic security, national public health or safety, or any combination thereof”. Nearly all 16 designated sectors are, in some way, dependent on GPS for timing or position synchronization. Viziv Technologies understands the vulnerability of GPS in support of CI and brings the ability to fast track deployment of a backup solution.

Our Story

Why haven’t we heard about this Zenneck surface wave before?

While other types of electromagnetic waves advanced for more than one hundred years, the Zenneck surface wave theory was largely ignored by the scientific community. Early experimental errors led some to believe that ZSW’s were nothing more than a mathematical anomaly.

It wasn’t until 2003 that brothers Dr. James Corum and Kenneth Corum experimented and proved the Zenneck surface wave was a reality; scientific fact, not fiction. 

Inspired by this discovery, Viziv Technologies created a system for the realization and use of the ZSW in industrial and commercial utilizations. We have developed patented processes to preferentially launch the ZSW via an application-specific transmitter probe, so that the signal emanating from this structure can be observed around the globe, and when so chosen, can be used to deliver power wirelessly to multiple receiver stations.
